Thursday's Fox Valley roundup

Jacobs 6, Prairie Ridge 5: Jacobs scored a run in the top of the ninth inning to down Prairie Ridge in a Fox Valley Conference crossover game Thursday. Jenna Teson was 3-for-5 with a double for the Golden Eagles (9-5) and Marissa Lombardo (6-2) picked up the win in the circle.

Cary-Grove 6, Lake Zurich 2: Freshman Lindsay Efflandt picked up her 11th win of the season and Cary-Grove pounded out 11 hits off Lake Zurich ace Megan Mattera to win this nonconference game. Alexis Haley was 3-for-4 with a triple and 3 RBI for the Trojans, while Emma Gaukle had a double. Efflandt struck out three and allowed 7 hits as Cary-Grove moved to 14-5 for the season.

Harvard 4, Burlington Central 3: Harvard scored 2 runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to upset Burlington in the Big Northern East. Haley Albamonte had a triple and 2 RBI for the Rockets (6-6, 2-2) and Cassie Warner added a triple. Jet Kein took the loss in the circle.

Huntley 1, Grayslake North 0: Jenna Mychko was 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and an RBI and Randi Peterson went 2-for-3 as Huntley (12-5) won this FVC crossover. Taylor Larson (10-4) allowed just 2 hits and had 10 strikeouts and 1 walk in earning the win.

Marengo 13, Hampshire 0: The Whip-Purs (4-12, 0-3) managed just 2 hits in falling to Big Northern East front-runner Marengo (18-3, 4-0). The Indians scored 12 runs in the first inning. Amanda Wescher took the loss for the Whips.

Alden-Hebron 11, Westminster Christian 0: The Warriors (1-8, 1-6) only had 3 hits in this Northeast Athletic Conference loss. Hannah Graves was Westminster's losing pitcher.
