Tuesday's Fox Valley roundup

South Elgin erupted for 7 runs in the second inning and added 2 runs in the sixth to roll to a 9-3 victory at Bartlett in the Upstate Eight Conference Tuesday.

Senior Sam Jordt held Bartlett (6-9, 2-6) to 6 hits in a complete-game performance to complete the 2-game series sweep. Junior Dillon Gardner went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI to lead a 10-hit attack for the Storm (9-4, 4-3). Matt DiCianni took the loss for the Hawks.

Waubonsie Valley 8, Streamwood 7: Trailing 6-3 in an Upstate Eight road game, the Sabres rallied twice to tie the game in the sixth and seventh innings, but the Warriors pushed a run across in the bottom of the seventh to prevail. Tim Cohen went 3-for-4 with a double and RBI and Patrick Manning went 2-for-2 with a double for Streamwood (9-6, 3-3).

Cary-Grove 6, Grayslake Central 4: Michael DeVoe (1-1) allowed no earned runs on 3 hits and struck out five in 5 innings to lead the Trojans to a Fox Valley Conference road win. Cary-Grove (9-7, 5-3) scored all 6 of its runs in the third inning to erase a 4-0 deficit.

Prairie Ridge 13, Huntley 3: The Wolves overcame a 3-1 deficit with an 8-run third inning to hand the Red Raiders their first loss in Fox Valley Conference play. Phil Pupillo, Tom Crohan and Matt Szytz each singled and drove in a run and pitcher Chris Klein (3-1) was tagged with his first losing decision this season for Huntley (12-2, 6-1).

Johnsburg 4, Dundee-Crown 0: The Skyhawks held the visiting Chargers to 2 hits in a Fox Valley Conference crossover. Zach Vodicka (3-2) held Johnsburg to 2 earned runs on 6 hits in 5 innings but took the loss for Dundee-Crown (9-8, 6-3).

Hampshire 7, Harvard 4: Ryan Burke (4-3) held the Hornets to 6 hits and struck out 7 in a complete-game effort to pace the Whip-Purs to a Big Northern East road win. Tyler Crater and Ron Laramie each went 2-for-4, Max Shaw doubled and Marcus Quick drove in a pair for Hampshire (7-7, 2-0).

Wheaton Academy 7, St. Edward 4: David Hoebbel doubled twice, but it wasn't enough to head off the Warriors in a Suburban Christian (Gold) matchup in West Chicago. Sophomore pitcher Luke Duffy (3-3) took the loss after allowing 6 earned runs on 8 hits in 6 innings.

Rockford Christian 11, Westminster Christian 7: The Warriors jumped to a 7-0 lead after an inning, but the Royal Lions tied it with 6 runs in the fourth and scored 3 more in the sixth to take the lead for good. Ryan Perez went 2-for-4 and Andrew Mason absorbed the Northeast Athletic Conference loss for Westminster (9-5, 6-1).
