Tuesday's Fox Valley roundup

Cary-Grove 6, Jacobs 4: Freshman Lindsay Efflandt was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, Taylor Dunne went 2-for-3 with a home run and 2 RBI and Alexis Haley was 3-for-4 with a triple and 2 RBI as Cary-Grove (8-3, 2-0) upended Jacobs (4-3, 1-1) in a Fox Valley Conference Valley Division game. Efflandt was also the wining pitcher. She allowed 10 hits, all singles, while striking out five and walking two. Marissa Lombardo suffered the loss for the Golden Eagles.

Neuqua Valley 11, South Elgin 0: The Storm's struggles continued with this Upstate Eight loss in Naperville. Caitie Stredde was 2-for-3 with a double for South Elgin (1-8, 0-3). Sam Bolin (1-4) was the losing pitcher.

Rosary 7, Hampshire 3: Grace Jakubowski and Becca Vodraska each had doubles for Hampshire (3-7) in this nonconference loss. Jen Hurst was the Whip-Purs' losing pitcher.

Westminster Christian 11, Rockford Christian 10: Hannah Graves (2 doubles) and Allyson Hielscher (2B) each went 4-for-5 as Westminster Christian (1-2, 1-1) won for the first time this season in this Northeast Athletic Conference games. Winning pitcher Katie Moeller, who had 10 strikeouts, and Katie Surratt each had 3 hits including doubles for the Warriors.

Waubonsie Valley 9, Streamwood 2: Deanna O'Malley had a home run for the Sabres (4-8, 0-3) in this Upstate Eight loss. Kelsey Johnson suffered the loss in the circle for Streamwood, which committed 7 errors in the game.

Huntley 9, McHenry 5: Jenna Mychko belted her fourth home run of the season and had 4 RBI as Huntley notched a Fox Valley (Valley) win. Amanda Wisniewski tripled and had 2 RBI for the Red Raiders (7-4, 1-1) and winning pitcher Taylor Larson had 2 hits. Larson (5-3) scattered 7 hits, struck out 5 and walked 2 to earn the win.

CL South 2, Dundee-Crown 1: Shannon McGinnis had 2 hits including a double and sophomore Hannah Mahoney shut down the Chargers after the first inning as the Gators (5-2, 1-1) won in the FVC Valley. Melany Love had a double for Dundee-Crown (0-6, 0-2). Amanda Eissler was the Chargers' losing pitcher.

College softballECC splits: After walking 9 batters and losing the opener to College of Lake County 8-1, ECC's Mackenzie Scott came back with a 3-hitter that included 11 strikeouts and only 2 walks as the Spartans (11-10, 2-4) salvaged an ISCC split with an 11-5 win in Game 2. Scott and Jordan Hogue each had 2 hits for ECC in the opener, while Hogue (3-for-4, 2 doubles, RBI), Sophie Sterricker (4-for-5, 2B, 3B, 2 RBI), Layla Ismajlaj (3-for-4, RBI), Brittany Heine (2-for-3, 3 RBI) and Riki Ernst (2 RBI) led the way in Game 2.
