Antioch's Seamon a leadoff sensation

Antioch softball coach Jeff Tylka inserted Samie Seamon back in her more common spot as leadoff hitter Tuesday, and the senior wasted no time getting things started.

Seamon slammed a home run to start a 10-run first inning, as Antioch rolled to a 13-0 win over host Round Lake in North Suburban Prairie Division action.

Allie Anttila also homered for Antioch (5-3, 3-0) in the first, while Olivia Duehr cracked a grand slam.

The Sequoits' 17-hit attack included big games from Seamon (3-for-3, 2 runs, 2 RBI), Anttila (2-for-4, 2 RBI), Duehr (1-for-2, 2 runs, 5 RBI), Lauren Moore (2-for-3), Amber Mysliwiec (2-for-3), Sam Kozenski (3-for-4, 2 runs) and Jessica Ploss (2-for-3).

Kozenski pitched a 5-inning 2-hitter with 6 strikeouts.

Buffalo Grove 6, Grant 2: Andrea DiPrima struck out 10 in earning the win and aided her own cause with a 2-run double in the top of the first, as the Bison improved to 9-2,

Grant pitcher Brie Brugioni suffered the loss, despite striking out 11. Two of the runs she allowed were unearned. Brugioni also hit a double.

Mundelein 8, Lake Forest 3: Justina Doll homered, doubled and knocked in 3 runs, as the Mustangs won the North Suburban Lake Division game.

Deanna Wise was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI for Mundelein (2-6, 1-1), while Hillary Bunnelle struck out eight in picking up the win.

Lake Zurich 5, Libertyville 1: Winning pitcher Megan Mattera was 3-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI for the visiting Bears in the North Suburban Lake Division game.

Erin Sweeney went 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored and a stolen base for Lake Zurich (5-6, 2-0), and Paige Goldberg also doubled. Alli McGinnis was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Mattera pitched a 2-hitter, striking out 11 and walking one.

For Libertyville (2-6, 0-3), Nicole Kruckman had a double.

Zion-Benton 3, Stevenson 2: Veronica Kraly homered and Bowling Green-bound Abby Hanson doubled for the Zee-Bees in the North Suburban Lake Division game.

Stevenson (4-6, 2-1) was led offensively by Genny Duffy (3-for-3). Ashley Niedermayer had a triple.

Crystal Lake Central 9, Grayslake Central 8: The Tigers scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to pull out the Fox Valley Fox Division game.

Claire Brennan had a double for the Rams. She allowed 8 runs in her 4 innings in the circle, but none of the runs were earned.

Prairie Ridge 11, Grayslake North 1: The Knights had only 3 hits in the Fox Valley Fox Division game.

Maine West 9, Niles North 1: Sophomore Katie Fitzgerald celebrated her 16th birthday by going 2-for-3 with 2 RBI for the Warriors (3-7, 1-0) in their Central Suburban North opener. Freshman Ariel Valles (2-0) earned the win while Alyssa Bojarski ((2-for-4, RBI), Vanessa Bagneschi (2-for-4, RBI), Amanda Wessell (2-fo-r4, RBI, 2 doubles) and Alli Ellwood (2-for-3, 2 RBI) were other offensive leaders for West.
