Bartlett 16, Elgin 0: The Hawks jumped on the visiting Maroons for 4 runs in the first inning, 4 in the second, 3 in the third and 5 in the fourth to earn an Upstate Eight Conference victory in five innings. Senior Greg Partyka (Bradley) went 3-for-3 with a double, a home run and 6 RBI, John Fleming finished 3-for-3 with a double and 4 runs and Make Mancuso was 2-for-2 with a triple and 2 RBI for Bartlett. Senior Alex Raver (1-1) earned the victory by holding Elgin to 1 hit in 4 innings.
South Elgin 21, East Aurora 0: Senior Anthony Keaty (4-for-4, 3 RBI, 2 runs) led the Storm's 18-hit attack in their successful Upstate Eight Conference opener in Aurora. John Menken, Brad Zych and Ryan Hicks drove in 3 runs apiece, and senior pitcher Nick Schwiesthal held the Tomcats scoreless on 2 hits over 4 innings to earn the victory for South Elgin (6-1, 1-0).
Burlington Central 10, Rockford Lutheran 5: The Rockets improved to 10-1 this season with a 10-5 nonconference victory against visiting Rockford Lutheran. Central was led at the plate by senior catcher Austin Jarvis (2-for-3, HR, 4 RBI), Jeff Ehlers (2-for-4, 2 doubles, 4 RBI) and Ray Hunnicutt (2B). Junior pitcher Luke Fleming raised his record to 2-0.
St. Edward 10, Genoa-Kingston 1: The Green Wave scored twice in the first inning before erupting for 6 runs in the second to make a winner of pitcher Jack Sutherland. He held the Cogs to 1 run on 3 hits, struck out 4 and walked none in 3 innings.
Sophomore Luke Duffy went 3-for-5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI, Ryan DiCristofano went 2-for-3 with a double and Derek Porto doubled and drove in 3 runs for St. Edward (6-4).
Huntley 11, Grayslake North 1: The Red Raiders amassed 15 hits to breeze past the Knights in the opening game of Fox Valley Conference play. Andre Sopena, Phil Pupillo (3 RBI) and Bryce Only (HR, 4 RBI) each went 3-for-4, and pitcher Chris Klein allowed just 1 earned run on 1 hit with 5 strikeouts in 6 innings for the Red Raiders (6-1, 1-0).
Grayslake Central 12, Dundee-Crown 2: The Rams scored 5 runs in the top of the first inning to set the tone in a Fox Valley Conference victory over the Chargers in Carpentersville. Nick Spagnola went 2-for-3 with a triple and 2 RBI, and Chris Sailor went 2-for-2 with a double for Dundee-Crown (5-6, 2-1).
