Huntley 2, St. Francis 1: Down by a goal at the half, Huntley (10-0-0) had to step it up in the second half with timely scoring and tough defense in the opening round of the Pepsi Showdown. Rachel Chapuis scored the first goal for the Red Raiders with an assist from Bre Burry. Priscilla Jara scored the second goal unassisted. Sara Hoffman (2 saves) and Katelyn Owens (0 saves) shared time at goalkeeper for Huntley. The top-seeded Red Raiders will host Hinsdale South, which beat Normal U-High 4-2 Tuesday, on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
CL South 8, Lisle 0: As part of the opening round in the Pepsi Showdown, the Gators (4-3) easily handled Lisle. Ashley Ross led the offense with 2 goals and an assist for Crystal Lake South. Karley Mecko also scored 2 goals. Emma Dalzell, Vivian Qian, Allison Agnes, and Lauren Perrine each scored a goal apiece for the Gators, while Kali Loescher, Ellen Brunner, and Agnes each added an assist. Elizabeth Quinn was South's and earned her third shutout of the season. The Gators play at Maine South on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Plainfield North 4, Cary-Grove 0: Plainfield North came out on top of Cary-Grove (4-3) in opening round action of the Pepsi Showdown. Cary-Grove's Paige Wooldridge and Paige Lincicum combined for 3 saves in the goal. The Trojans will play at York at 7 p.m. Thursday.
