Friday's Fox Valley roundup

The Huntley girls softball team pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh inning Friday to open the season with a 6-5 nonconference win over Batavia.

Nikki DeMarco (3-for-3, 2 RBI), Jenna Mychko (3-for-4, 2B, RBI), and Tara Lycos (2-for-3, RBI) led the Red Raiders offensively.

Taylor Larson picked up her first career varsity win in the circle as she tossed 7 innings, allowing 3 earned runs and 5 hits while striking out one.

St. Edward 4, Ridgewood 2: Sarah Field tossed her second complete game in as many days, as the Green Wave (2-0) defeated Ridgewood on the road. Taylor Lundquist (2-for-3) paced the Green Wave offensively as she was the only player to record a multihit game, while Tarah McShane (3B, RBI), Veronica Rolando (2B), and Kristi Knott (2B, RBI) also contributed with their bats. Field gave up just 3 hits and no earned runs while striking out 10.

Buffalo Grove 2, Cary-Grove 0: The Trojans (1-1) were unable to push a run across as they were held to just 1 hit in this nonconference loss at home. Emma Gaulke suffered the loss for the Trojans, giving up 2 runs while striking out four in 3 2/3 innings of work.
