Prudhomme, Wauconda get off on right foot

Melanie Prudhomme helped Wauconda's girls basketball team have a successful season.

The junior is trying to help the girls soccer team enjoy the same, and she got off on the right foot Wednesday.

Prudhomme netted a pair of goals and Wauconda scored all of its goals in the second half en route to a 3-0 shutout of Richmond-Burton in its season opener. Hannah Voyta had a goal and an assist for the Bulldogs.

Kara Leoni earned the shutout in goal.

Tammy Ellis, who started along side Prudhomme on the basketball court, had an assist.

Mundelein 2, Rolling Meadows 0: Molly Rohan and Stephanie Emery scored for the Mustangs in their season opener. Ashley Begrowicz added an assist.

Melanie Swager and Brooke Denis shared the shutout in goal.

Carmel 0, Hersey 0: Julia Fredian made 3 saves in goal for host Carmel in its quad.
