Andi Potkonjak had 18 points, 4 assists and 4 steals to lead Antioch's girls basketball team to a 71-57 win over St. Edward in first-round tournament action at Lisle.

Allie Anttila added 15 points and 5 rebounds for Antioch (4-6), which resumes the tourney Monday with a 6:30 p.m. start against Immaculate Conception.

Antioch also received strong games from Jessica Ploss (12 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks) and Lindsey Gofron (9 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals).

The Sequoits trailed 8-0 early but led 31-29 at halftime. They then outscored St. Edward 26-11 in the third quarter.

Lake Forest 60, Grayslake Central 45: At Warren, Claire DiMario had 20 points and 9 rebounds for the Scouts (11-5). Mary Striedl added 17 points and Jordan Majka had 10.

Grayslake Central (10-4) received 10 points from Skyler Jessop, while Rebekah Llorens had 9 points and 13 rebounds.

Johnsburg 74, Maine West 39: Johnsburg put Maine West away early in the opening round at Dundee Crown.

The Skyhawks entered the second quarter with a 19-3 lead, increased their margin to 28 points at halftime and widened the margin to 40 points entering the final quarter en route to a 74-39 victory in Carpentersville.

Johnsburg (10-3) advanced to play Naperville Central on Monday at 6:30 p.m. while Maine West (5-9) will try to regroup against Regina at 12:30 p.m.

Junior Melissa Dixon scored a game high 28 points for the Skyhawks - her final 2 points giving her 1,001 career points.

Senior Danielle Slivka added 16 points, and junior Mary Kate Wright came off the bench to contribute 12 points for the potent Skyhawks attack.

Maine West fell behind 9-0 early and could never recover in what, according to Warriors coach Derril Kipp, was the worst loss of his hall of fame career.

The Skyhawks' pressing defense forced the Warriors into 15 first-half turnovers and a 49-21 halftime deficit.

"We like to run, so we got out and ran," said coach Mike Toussaint, whose Skyhawks shot 58 percent (29-for-50). "That was part of our game plan and we were aggressive offensively."

Senior Samantha Acosta led the Warriors with 18 points, including six 3-pointers.

Mundelein 52, Waukegan 45: At Mundelein, Jessi Bjerning scored 13 points, as the Mustangs concluded their own tournament with their second consecutive win.

Mundelein (9-8, 3-2) also received 8 points apiece from Olivia Dunigan and Megan Woit. Amanda Davis sank a 3-pointer and scored 7 points for the hosts, who led 15-7 after the first quarter and 29-19 at halftime.

Waukegan was led by Syerra Cunningham with 14 points and Julia Coad with 10, including two 3s.

Huntley 56, Vernon Hills 40: At Mundelein, the Cougars dropped their fourth in a row.

Meri Bennett-Swanson scored 14 points for Vernon Hills (10-5, 1-4 tournament).

Rolling Meadows 37, Grant 34: At Mundelein, Donnie Taggart and Heather Chapman scored 12 and 11 points, respectively for Grant (7-9, 2-3), which got outscored 16-4 in the second quarter and trailed 23-14 at halftime.

Chapman was named to the all-tournament team.

Hoffman Estates 43, Zion-Benton 41: At Mundelein, all-tournament pick Juanita Robinson scored 10 points in the loss for the Zee-Bees.
