Crystal Lake South 3, Jacobs 0: The Gators (18-3-2) took an early 1-0 halftime lead and never looked back as they advanced to the Class 3A McHenry regional final by defeating Jacobs 3-0.
Carey Bienert got the Gators on the board as he found the back of the net off of a Andy DeBoer assist. DeBoer then added an insurance goal of his own in the second half on an assist from Adam Gatza. Charlie Oliver rounded out the scoring for the Gators on a Jon Gutmann assist. Dave Walsh preserved the shutout in goal for South as he recorded 5 saves while Golden Eagles' keeper, Danny Trevor saved 6 shots on goal.
Crystal Lake South advances to play Saturday at 11 a.m. at McHenry against the winner of today's game between No. 2 seed McHenry and No. 3 seed Round Lake.
Oswego 4, Hampshire 0: The Whip-Purs (13-8-1) saw their season come to an end Tuesday as they fell to Oswego 4-0 in the Class 2A Grayslake Central regional. Marcus Quick was busy in goal recording 15 saves for the Whip-Purs.
Barrington 2, Cary-Grove 1: The Trojans suffered a tough 2-1 loss at the Class 3A Lake Zurich regional as a strong Barrington team ended Cary-Grove's season. Brendan McCarthy scored the Trojans' lone goal of the game and the Broncos proved to be too much as Marc Drouin and Andrew Kissinger each recorded goals for Barrington.
Geneva 3, Streamwood 2: The Sabres' (6-15-4) match against Geneva went back and forth, but Streamwood came up just short as it fell to Geneva 3-2 at the Class 3A St. Charles East regional. Senior Alex Perez led the Sabres' recording 1 goal and 1 assist while Ivan Arce added the other goal and Ulises Manjarez added an assist. Edgar Leyva played tough in goal registering 6 saves in goal.
Lake Zurich 7, Dundee-Crown 1: The Chargers were out-matched Tuesday afternoon as Lake Zurich downed Dundee-Crown 7-1 in this Class 3A Lake Zurich regional matchup. Eddie Fuentes was busy in goal recording 17 saves while Scott Nowicke finished the last 15 minutes out in goal adding 4 saves. Nathan Kirchhoff scored the Chargers' lone goal.
