Scouting Fox Valley area girls golf regionals

Class AA Prairie Ridge regional

Wednesday at Prairie Isle

Outlook: All of the Fox Valley area teams compete in this regional, along with Johnsburg, Lakes, McHenry, St. Charles East and St. Charles North, which were the top two teams in the Upstate Eight Conference and are the heavy favorites to advance to next Monday's Rockford Guilford sectional at Ingersoll. The third qualifying team could be the South Elgin/Bartlett/Streamwood co-op if it can play like it did last week when it finished third at the UEC meet. The co-op is led by Streamwood senior Carly Schneider, the UEC runner-up who missed the state cut by 1 shot last year. St. Charles East's Jenny Niemiec and North's Marin Beagley were the 1-3 finishers at the UEC meet and along with Schneider figure to be in contention for regional medalist honors as well.

Class AA Belvidere North regional

Wednesday at Timber Pointe

Outlook: Hampshire and Burlington Central join a 13-team field here that includes most of the NIC-10 along with Antioch, Marengo, Richmond-Burton and Marian Central. Hampshire won its second straight Big Northern Conference title last week, led by sophomore medalist Connie Ellett and her junior sister Taylor, who was third at conference and is a two-time state qualifier. Jessie Van Dorin and Tina Tuminaro also scored for the Whip-Purs at conference. Burlington Central is led by seniors Jordan Maisto and Taylor Colby. The Belvidere North regional advancers also head to Ingersoll next Monday.

Class A Rock Falls regional

Wednesday at Rock River Country Club

Outlook: St. Edward has an excellent chance to advance in Class A but is in a field of realtive unknowns in this regional out west. Joining the Green Wave are Genoa-Kingston, Erie, Hinckley-Big Rock, Polo, Prophetstown, Indian Creek and the host schools as well as individual players from seven other schools. The Green Wave is led by seniors Danielle Coffman, a returning state qualifier, and Erin Schneider. The Wave advanced to sectionals last year by finishing second at its own regional.
