Stout is strong for Grayslake North

Talk about a Stout performance.

Senior Brian Stout had 4 goals and an assist to lead Grayslake North's boys soccer team to a 7-1 win over Woodstock North in the rain Thursday night.

The Fox Valley Fox Division match was played on Grayslake North's new synthetic turf.

Stout scored twice on headers and twice with his feet.

"Brian really ran the show, allowing the younger players to feel comfortable where they were, knowing that Brian was always there to help clean up possible mistakes," Knights coach Adam DeCaluwe said.

Grayslake North (2-1, 1-0) also got 2 goals from sophomore Claudio Guerrero. Freshman Kip Wetter solved the wet conditions, too, scoring a goal and contributing an assist. Junior Chris Myers had 2 assists.

First-year Woodstock North fell to 0-3, 0-1.

Mundelein 4, McHenry 1: The Mustangs opened their season with 3 unanswered goals in the second half.

Eder Alcantar scored twice for Mundelein, which also got goals from Daniel Marcos and Bryant Portillo. Robbie Munnings assisted twice.

"It was a nice opening win and we got a lot of players in," Mustangs coach Dave Ekstrom said. "It was a close game until we got the 3 unanswered goals."

Zion-Benton 6, Grant 2: Gabriel Velarde and Alex Kupinski scored for the visiting Bulldogs.
