Streamwood opens season with 6-0 win
The Streamwood boys soccer team wasted no time in its season opener Tuesday, posting a 6-0 victory over Glenbard North.
Ivan Arce paced the Sabres recording a hat trick while Roma Patino chipped in 2 goals and Jim Patlyek scored one. Rolando Moreno helped the Sabres' offense recording 4 assists on the night.
Edgar Leyva made 4 saves in goal for the shutout.

Crystal Lake South 2, Johnsburg 1: The Gators (2-0) got on the board first as Jon Gutmann scored on an assist from Charlie Oliver in the first half. In the second half, it was Oliver who scored the go-ahead goal on assists from Gutmann and Carey Bienert to lead Crystal Lake South to a 2-1 victory over Johnsburg.
DeKalb 1, Burlington Central 0: The Rockets (0-1) played DeKalb even for one half before suffering a 1-0 loss to the Barbs in DeKalb. Alex Pieper recorded 8 saves in goal for Burlington Central in the loss.
Deerfield 8, Dundee-Crown 0: The Chargers were unable to find an answer for Deerfield's attack as they suffered an 8-0 loss at the Lake Forest Invite. Edit Fuentes and Scott Nowicki recorded 8 and 5 saves respectively in goal for the Chargers.
Grayslake North 1, Huntley 0: Grayslake North scored the lone goal at the end of the first half and the Red Raiders were unable to mount a comeback suffering a tough 1-0 loss. Kevin Montellongo recorded 4 saves in goal for Huntley.
Cary-Grove 3, Westminster Christian 2: The Trojans pulled out a 3-2 victory at the St. Edward Tournament in a game that saw neither team score in the first half. The second half proved to be a different story as Jon Guay led Cary-Grove with 2 goals while Brendan McCarthy recorded the game winner on an assist from Matt Latawio. Will Higgins recorded 4 saves in goal for the Trojans.
Ian Dutcher put the Warriors on the board 35 minutes into the second half while Ishmael Yemoah scored Westminster Christians final goal with 11 seconds remaining.
Girls volleyball
Hoffman Estates d. Larkin: It was a rocky start for the Royals in their first match of the season as they fell to Hoffman Estates 25-12, 25-12. Amanda Lye (3 kills, 1 dig), Maggie Hofmann (1 kill, 1 ace, 3 digs), and Lexi Smithberg (4 assists, 1 dig) all contributed for Larkin.
Hinsdale Central d. Huntley: The Red Raiders (0-1) suffered a 35-33, 22-25, 25-18 loss to Hinsdale Central in this nonconference thriller despite Amy Dion registering 19 digs defensively. Sophomore Ashley Smith paced Huntley's attack recording 15 kills on the night.
