Tuesday's Fox Valley roundup
Sam Clemons tossed a 2-hitter and Jenna Mychko went 4-for-4 with an RBI as Huntley outlasted Dundee-Crown 4-2 Tuesday in Fox Valley Conference crossover softball action.
Clemons (7-3) struck out nine and walked four and the Red Raiders (8-5) pounded out 15 hits to gain the win. Amanda Wisniewski was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI, Deanna DeBosschere 2-for-4 and Clemons 2-for-4 for Huntley.
Lisa Mowcomber and Melissa Summaria had RBI for the Chargers (3-4). Emilie Kerkman suffered the loss in the circle. She struck out nine.
Jacobs 7, Grayslake Central 0: Sara Jacobson was 3-for-3 with a home run and Kara Arceneaux tossed a 1-hitter with 15 strikeouts as the Golden Eagles (4-3) won easily in a Fox Valley crossover in Algonquin.
Prairie Ridge 1, Woodstock 0: Johanna Turner fired a 1-hitter with 12 strikeouts and no walks as the Wolves (9-2) prevailed on Erin Smith's RBI single in the top of the seventh inning of this Fox Valley crossover.
CL South 9, CL Central 6: Vicki Pyan was 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and Liz Adams 2-for-3 with a triple and 2 RBI as the Gators (8-2) won for the eighth straight time in this FVC crossover. Emily Mahoney pitched the final 6 innings, allowing just 1 hit with 7 strikeouts and 1 walk to earn the win for South.
Cary-Grove 4, Grayslake North 0: Katie Berg had 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI, Emma Gaulke had a double, and Kayla Dunne a double and an RBI as Cary-Grove (5-4) shut out Grayslake North in an FVC crossover. Gaulke was the winning pitcher, allowing 6 hits with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk.
St. Edward 27, Rockford Christian 1: Kristi Knott (3 RBI) and Veronica Rolando (6 RBI) each had 4 hits and St. Edward (7-3) pounded out 24 hits in this easy nonconference win. Lea Diaz (5 RBI) added 3 hits for the Green Wave, including a home run, while Kelsey Richmond (3 RBI) added 3 hits including a double. Sarah Field and Madeline Foehringer each pitched 2 innings with Kristina Kolodziejczyk finishing up. Field, who struck out five, was credited with the win.
