Field, Green Wave defeat Dundee-Crown

St. Edward sophomore Sarah Field extended her scoreless streak to 16 1/3 innings Thursday as the Green Wave defeated Dundee-Crown 2-0 in nonconference action in Carpentersville.

Field also drove in the only 2 runs of the game, knocking out a fourth-inning single that scored Kristina Brockner, who had singled, and Kristi Knott, who had walked.

Field allowed 2 hits, walked three and struck out four as th Green Wave moved to 3-1 on the season.

Emilie Kerkman suffered the loss for the Chargers (2-2).

Palatine 5, Cary-Grove 3: Alexis Haley had a double for Cary-Grove (0-2) in this nonconference loss.

DeKalb 3, Streamwood 2: Delaney O'Malley had a home run for Streamwood but the Sabres fell in 9 innings in this nonconference game. Kelsey Johnson suffered the loss in the circle for Streamwood.

Oswego East 5, Elgin 4: Brandi Hernandez had 3 hits with a double and an RBI but Elgin (0-6) fell in 10 innings in nonconference action. Hannah Perryman had 2 hits and 2 RBI for the Maroons and Kelly Patchett added 2 hits and an RBI. Perryman struck out 13 in taking the loss in the circle for Elgin.
