Grant tops Wauconda again

Grant's boys basketball team got balanced scoring and stellar defense to pick up another win - its second this season over Wauconda.

Grant won 70-30 in North Suburban Prairie Division action, as A.J. Spohr and Gilbert Sheehan scored 15 and 14 points, respectively.

At Johnsburg on Nov. 29, Grant defeated Wauconda 58-43.

Grant (5-1, 2-0) also received 11 points from sophomore guard Shane Richardson, who's scored in double figures in each of the Bulldogs' first six games. Richardson and Spohr each hit 3-pointers.

Grant held Wauconda (2-4, 0-2) to 8 points in the second half. Wauconda did not have a field goal in the third quarter, scoring its 3 points from the foul line.

Wauconda's Matt Stonis led all scorers with 18 points.

Zion-Benton 75, Lake Zurich 64: Connor Mooney scored 23 points (four 3-pointers) for the Bears in the North Suburban Lake Division game.

Lake Zurich (3-3, 0-2) also received 15 points from Danny Coleman, while Brandon Kunz recorded a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Zion-Benton improved to 7-1, 2-1.
