Fox Valley roundup: South Elgin loses
Despite a tough 64-51 loss to Lake Park (6-1) Saturday, Cortney Kumerowhad a big game for South Elgin (4-3) with 21 points. Becca Smith (14-for-17 FTs) had 17 points for the Storm and Genevieve Johnson contributed with 9 points.
Jacobs 58, CL Central 32: Freshman Cassidy Sherman scored 12 points to help lead Jacobs (4-2) to a Fox Valley Conference crossover win over Crystal Lake Central. Kari Bultman added 12 points for the Golden Eagles and Hailey Cnota scored 9.
Grayslake North 49, Dundee-Crown 42: Alex Lococo led Dundee-Crown (2-5) with 14 points in this Fox Valley Conference crossover loss. Megan Fasanella added 7 points for the Chargers.
"The girls are playing really hard," said D-C coach Michelle Russell. "We just need to play better team defense."
Johnsburg 49, Cary-Grove 44: The Trojans were outscored 16-8 in the fourth quarter of this Fox Valley Conference crossover loss. Claire Jakubicek led Cary-Grove with 11 points.
Genoa-Kingston 40, Westminster Christian 35: The Hilltoppers fell short against Genoa-Kingston in nonconference action. Sarah Rodgers led the Warriors (2-5) with 13 points. Rachel Doby also contributed 8 points.
Stillman Valley 58, Burlington Central 49: Host Stillman Valley outscored Burlington Central 26-11 in the third quarter to win this Big Northern Conference crossover game. Jordan Maisto and Taylor Colby led BC (4-4) with 15 points each.
