Bartlett, Carmel, Grant all win

Bartlett senior quarterback Josh Hasenberg threw for one touchdown and ran for two more as the undefeated Hawks downed Fremd 21-7 Friday night in the second round of the Class 8A playoffs at Millennium Field in Streamwood.

Hasenberg first hit Greg Partyka with a 30-yard TD pass with 5:53 left in the first quarter, then ran in from 1 yard out early in the second quarter and again with 2:58 left in the game. Dan Karys kicked all 3 extra points.

Bartlett will play on the road in next week's quarterfinals, at either Schaumburg or Warren. Those two play today at Schaumburg.

Carmel 10, Woodstock 7: Jimmy Miller kicked a 20-yard field goal to give Carmel a 3-0 halftime lead over Woodstock in a Class 7A playoff game at Woodstock. The Corsairs extended the lead to 10-0 on a 6-yard run by Mike Taylor in the third quarter before Woodstock scored late in the game.

Carmel will play the winner of today's Geneva-Rockton Hononegah game in next week's quarterfinals.

Grant 28, Huntley 24: Jordan Neukirch scored twice, on runs of 7 and 2 yards, and Tor Larkin kicked a 28-yard field goal to stake Huntley to a 17-7 lead over Grant at halftime in Class 6A. Grant's lone score came on a 4-yard run by quarterback Justin Cokefair. But the Bulldogs came back with a late TD run by Tom Bychowski to gain the win.

Grant will play the winner of today's Lemont-Morgan Park game in the quarterfinals.
