Streamwood shuts out Hoffman
Shutting down the Hoffman Estates offense, Streamwood (11-2-2) nabbed a 2-0 nonconference boys soccer win over the Hawks Saturday.
Edgar Leyva recording 4 saves for his fourth shutout of the season. Alex Perez and Alex Lopez each scored providing ample offense for the win. Roma Patino added an assist.
Cary-Grove 1, Boylan 1: Cary-Grove (10-1-1) capped off a 4-game week with this 1-1 nonconference tie. Nick McDonald scored the lone Trojan goal assisted by Mike Chiodo. In goal, Ben Alleva collected 8 saves.
St. Charles East 1, Burlington Central 0: Unable to find the back of the net, Burlington Central (4-8-1) fell to tournament host, St. Charles East 1-0 at the Saints tournament. Kyle DeRaedt kept things close racking up 9 saves in goal for the Rockets.
Westminster Christian 5, Elgin Academy 1: A tight 1-0 game at the half, the Westminster Christian offense exploded for four late goals to beat Elgin Academy (2-6) in nonconference play. Josh Beachler, Ryan Beachler, Josh Sanders, Jake Moeller and goalkeeper Scott Saturik (6 saves) each scored. Saturik scored on a PK for the Warriors (6-5-1), while sophomore Sanders netted his first goal of the year.
Connor Flexman scored the lone Hilltopper goal, while Tom Tunca tallied 10 saves in the net for Elgin Academy.
Glenbard North 8, Crystal Lake South 0: Back-to-back incredible saves from Crystal Lake South goalkeeper Zach Dalzell, resulted in a game-ending injury which later cost the Gators this concluding contest of the St. Charles East Tournament. Despite the loss, South took home third place honors, and despite cracking his head on the goalpost mid-dive, Zalzell is expected to make a quick recovery. Carlos Dantes made his net debut just five minutes into the game blocking 4 shots on goal for the Gators (8-7-1).
St. Edward 1, Guerin 0: Cameron Pfeiffer's second-half goal off a John Currie assist led St. Edward (4-9-1) to this nonconference win. Jim Cholewa made 8 saves in goal for the Green Wave.
