Bartlett opesn UEC play with win

Bartlett's girls volleyball team opened Upstate Eight Conference play Thursday night with a 25-10, 25-15 win over East Aurora. Leading the attack for the Hawks (4-3-1, 1-0) were Carly Sahagian (9 kills, 4 aces) and Alyssa Cazzato (15 assists).

Waubonsie Valley d. Elgin: Elgin (3-5) fell 12-25, 25-19, 25-18 in Upstate Eight Conference play. Lindsey Morrow (8 digs), Kendall Martin (5 digs, 4 aces, 8 kills, 6 blocks) and Ellen Holton (7 kills, 7 blocks) led the Maroon attack.

Hampshire d. Oregon: Hampshire (8-0) won its eighth straight, 25-14, 25-22, behind stat leaders Kara Wehrs (6 aces, 12 assists, 11 digs) and Amy Wehrs (13 kills).

Prairie Ridge d. Dundee-Crown: Dundee-Crown (3-1) fell to Prairie Ridge despite 7 kills from Stephanie Thorson.

Streamwood d. Larkin: Behind Betsy Holman (18 kills), Maxine Andren (9 kills) and Adriana Salgado (27 assists), Streamwood (3-5, 1-0) won this Upstate Eight Conference meeting 25-22, 14-25, 25-19.

CL South d. Grayslake North: Crystal Lake South topped Grayslake North 25-9, 25-6 led by Katie Trayser (5 kills, Caitlin Schumacher (5 kills), Erin Johnson (5 aces) and Jordan Guida (4 aces, 16 assists).

Burlington Central d. Stillman Valley: Standout play from Stephanie Holthus (14 kills, 4 aces, 8 digs) and Meghan Zasada (3 aces, 10 service points) led Burlington Central (7-2) to this 25-11, 25-18 nonconference win.

South Elgin d. Lake Park: South Elgin (1-6, 1-0) won this Upstate Eight Conference matchup 20-25, 25-16, 25-12 with key play from Hayley Bradley (8 kills, 21 digs), Genevieve Johnson (13 digs) and Christie Cortese (9 kills).

Cary-Grove d. Grayslake Central: Cary-Grove (9-1) beat Grayslake Central 25-10, 25-23. Allison Straumann (8 digs), Kelly Lamberti (3 aces) and Colleen Hargrove (6 blocks) each had 5 kills for the Trojans.

Huntley d. Jacobs: Huntley (5-4) inched past Jacobs (3-5) for this Fox Valley crossover win. Toni Jaehnig (4 kills, 5 digs) and Allyson Stellmach (11 points, 8 digs) led Huntley, while Amy Cavanaugh (6 kills, 9 digs, 4 blocks), Lauren Pigatto (9 kills, 5 digs) and Erica Liss (16 assists, 5 digs) led the Golden Eagles.
