Glenbard North 49, West Aurora 44

Patience finally paid off for the Panthers.

Glenbard North (5-17, 4-7) scored a stunning upset in Monday's makeup DuPage Valley Conference game, knocking West Aurora (16-5, 8-3) out of first place in the standings with a 49-44 decision in Carol Stream.

"I've said all year that I believe we can beat very good teams," said Glenbard North coach Erin Dwyer. "We showed we can do it. I couldn't be more happy for them."

With the Blackhawks' loss, Wheaton North and Naperville Central now share the league lead with 9-2 records.

After taking a 21-19 lead to halftime, the Panthers led throughout the second half -- building as much as a double-digit lead in the third quarter. West Aurora pulled within 3 points in the fourth quarter, but the Panthers held firm.

Sophomore James Fleming led the Panthers with 22 points, while Marko Govedarica added 9 points and Eddie Deane had 6 points and 10 rebounds.

"Every time they'd make a run, we'd answer," Dwyer said. "My guys came out and made some plays."

Lisle 65, Coal City 52: The Lions (9-18, 6-3 IEC) began their final push before the playoffs on a positive, taking a 20-point lead before easing to the Interstate Eight victory in Lisle. Andrew Rapciak made four 3-pointers and scored 20 points, just off his season-high of 24. Center Mike Gortowski had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Timothy Christian 64, Illiana Christian 46: Winning for the seventh time in nine games, Timothy Christian (14-13) advanced in the Private School League Tournament. The No. 2 seeded Trojans, who beat No. 7 seed Illiana (9-14) on Friday, took a 17-7 first-quarter lead. Timothy Christian plays No. 6 seed Aurora Christian (15-9) on Wednesday in Elmhurst.

Aurora Christian 52, Wheaton Academy 50: Despite 6-foot-8 sophomore Tim Rusthoven's game-high 22 points, No. 3 seed Wheaton Academy (14-8) lost the Private School League tourney game in West Chicago. Ben Euler added 12 points for the Warriors. Wheaton Academy hosts Illiana Christian on Wednesday.
