Fox Valley football highlights

• Jacobs and Larkin set the state record books on end, combining for 133 points in Jacobs' 75-58 win at Memorial Field in Elgin. Jacobs also set two state records for yardage in winning for the first time this season.

• Elgin played West Aurora tough but fell in the end 21-13 to the Blackhawks in the state's second oldest football rivalry.

• St. Edward came oh so close to snapping its 21-game losing streak but the Green Wave fell to Aurora Christian 35-33.

• Burlington Central gained its first win, coming from behind to beat Sycamore 35-21.

• Bartlett also got into the win column, knocking off Oswego 33-22 at Millennium Field.

• The annual Crystal Lake South cross county invitational takes center stage today with the Gators hosting, among others, Streamwood, Elgin, Cary-Grove and Huntley at Veterans Acres Park.

• Both the Burlington Central and St. Edward boys soccer tournaments wrap up with Elgin taking on St. Edward at 10:30 this morning. The Maroons are coming off a 3-2 win over South Elgin Friday that secured them the championship of the Burlington tournament.

• Jacobs hosts its annual volleyball tournament, which includes Elgin and Bartlett, while Crystal Lake South plays host to its annual boys and girls cross country invitational, a meet that includes Cary-Grove, Huntley, Streamwood and Elgin.
