Everyone's Favorite Spaghetti Sauce

1/4 cup olive oil1 cup onion, finely chopped3 teaspoons minced garlic4 tablespoons parsley, chopped1 1/2 pounds lean ground sirloin or turkey1 can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes1 can (14 ounces) whole tomatoes2 cans (6 ounces each) tomato paste4 teaspoons oregano2 teaspoons basil4 tablespoons sugar2 tablespoons salt 1/2 teaspoon pepper3 pounds pastaHeat olive oil in large pot at medium high. Saute onions for 5-7 minutes; add garlic and cook until fragrant. Add parsley and mix well. Stir in ground meat and cook until well-browned. Add diced tomatoes, crushed tomatoes, whole tomatoes and tomato paste. Bring mixture to a boil, reduce to simmer and cook for 1 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally.Serves 12 to 15.Cooks' note: Sauce can be frozen.Nutrition values per serving: 488 calories, 7 g fat (2 g saturated), 83 g carbohydrates, 6 g fiber, 24 g protein, 24 mg cholesterol, 947 mg sodium.
