Three days of live bands, BBQ and more at Elgin Ribfest June 14-16

The Elgin RibFest (formerly Elgin BrewFest), a three-day event featuring live music, ribs and BBQ, will be 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, June 14; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, June 15; and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 16, at Festival Park, 132 S. Grove Ave. in downtown Elgin.

All ages are welcome. Admission to the park is $5. Admission will be free from 11 a.m. to noon Sunday. Police, firefighters and active military are admitted free. Bring a lawn chair; no coolers, bikes or pets.

The festival has operated for the past 19 years and draws approximately 5,000-6,000 attendees per day.

Rib vendors include: After Hours BBQ, BG's Main Event Inc., Salt Creek Barbecue, Awesome Aussie Barbecue, and Off the Bone BBQ. There also will be Little Jimmy's Italian Ices and Simply Crispy.

Vendors include Lilla Rose, Hempwork, Sir Winslow's Zoo, Essentially Living Well with Shelly, Mother Earth Crafts, Sharon McGinness Crafts, Dabadooya & Co., Mazz's Designs, Color Street, Karen Cairo Crafts, and more.

On Friday, Elgin band Hillbilly Rockstarz will headline the evening from 9 to 11 p.m. It is also the band's release party for their first original album titled "Feels Like Home." Local pop band Serendipity performs a combination of 1960s to '80s covers and pop hits from 5 to 6:30 p.m., followed by the Rob Post Band performing the best in classic rock from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The Elgin Master Chorale Children's Chorus will host the "Elgin Idol" competition at noon Saturday. There will be prizes for the top singers.

On Saturday, students from the Music Education Centers of America will take the stage from 11 to 11:45 a.m., followed by R&B band Bishop Super Band from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Rise performs covers of everything from classic rock to today's hits from 3 to 4:30 p.m., followed by Sealed With a Kiss playing hits from the 1980s to today from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The horn-driven party rock band Tynan will open the evening performances from 7 to 8:30 p.m., followed by headliners 7th Heaven from 9 to 11 p.m.

On Sunday, SM6 performs a combination of imaginative covers and fresh originals of indie pop, rock and folk from noon to 12:30 p.m., followed by Tony Ocean from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Funk Brotherz, an Elgin area band covering funk, disco, rock, R&B, dance, blues and jazz favorites from the 1970s to today, will take the stage from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

Mana tribute band Revolucion de Amor will close out the three-day festival from 5 to 7 p.m.

The sixth annual BGV Motorsports Father's Day Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show will be Sunday, June 16, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is sponsored by Psychotic Air of Batavia. The only entrance for show vehicles is at Grove Avenue and Prairie Street in Elgin. All show cars, trucks, and motorcycles are welcome! The gates open at 10 a.m. Registration is available on-site at the BGV Motorsports registration booth from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is a $10 entry fee per show vehicle. A portion of each vehicle entry fee and collected donations will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Elgin. The first 75 vehicles will receive a dash plaque.

Come celebrate Father's Day weekend at Elgin Ribfest at Festival Park, right next to the Grand Victoria Casino.

A portion of the fest proceeds will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Elgin, Marklund Wasmond Center at Little Angels and Ecker Center for Mental Health.
