Third annual STEMCON draws thousands

College of DuPage President Dr. Ann Rondeau helps demonstrate the science behind slime with a curious attendant at the college's third annual STEMCON, an interactive conference celebrating science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

Approximately 2,000 community members attended the all-day event, which featured more than 60 booths offering activities, including crime scene investigation, cryptography, a Lego "Great Ball Contraption," electricity and magnetism, infrared waves, the physics of flight, reptile genetics and robotics.

Featured speakers included the Field Museum's "Chief Curiosity Correspondent" Emily Graslie, COD faculty members Joe DalSanto and Dale F. Simpson Jr., and Fermilab's "Mr. Freeze" Jerry Zimmerman.
