Elmhurst's Bethel UCC invites you to Holy Week and Easter services

You are invited to attend Holy Week and Easter services at Bethel United Church of Christ, starting with Maundy Thursday worship on March 29.

Beginning at 7 p.m. in Bethel's Welcome Center, those attending will have the opportunity to participate in a come-and-go worship experience with interactive prayer centers, each of which will invite us to taste, smell, write or touch as a way to engage in Christ's journey to the cross. Because all ages can participate at their own pace, families are encouraged to worship together and engage in faith conversations. The prayer centers also will be open on Good Friday from 3 p.m. until the Taize service at 7:30 p.m.

Easter Sunday events on April 1 begin with breakfast at 9 a.m., followed by a special visit from the Easter Bunny and an Easter egg hunt at 9:30 a.m. Celebratory Easter worship is at 10 a.m., with music by the adult voice choir and instrumentalists.

Everyone is invited to bring a fresh flower to adorn the barren cross to celebrate Christ's resurrection, a Bethel tradition.

The Rev. Gretchen Sylvester, senior minister, and the Rev. Sally Scheib, associate minister, will lead the service, with Rev. Sylvester's sermon entitled "Fear and Trembling."

Bethel United Church of Christ is located at 315 E. St. Charles Road in Elmhurst. Church facilities are fully accessible, and parking is available; enter from St. Charles Road or Huntington Lane off Poplar. Please call the church at (630) 279-4040 for more information.
