Roger Breisch challenges readers' inherent beliefs with the launch of 'Questions That Matter'
Batavia, Ill - August 18, 2017 - As a life-long learner, Roger Breisch has never been one to hear a statement and blindly accept it as truth. Instead, he will query. Although he has always asked questions, as time went on, his questions grew deeper.
After years of fashioning his thoughts and questions into words, Breisch recently released "Questions That Matter," a compilation of his most provocative essays.
"I have come to know the vital role of questions, and grieve the dearth of them in our everyday discourse," states Breisch in the book's introduction. "We all have questions about our life, our work, our gifts, our relationships and what, if anything they mean."
Although Breisch has honed his questioning through various formats, some of his most poignant conversations occurred while logging over 3,000 hours answering calls on suicide hotlines. However, he is quick to point out that this book is not the answer to preventing suicides.
"I talk about my experiences questioning those who call the hotline, contemplating ending their own life," explains Breisch. "However, I do not have the answers for them or the myriad of other question in my life; instead, I hope readers of this book will walk away with an appreciation for the power of questioning."
Breisch conveniently filed each of his chosen essays under major chapter topics, which he calls "Inquiries." The first inquiry explores "The Nature of Knowledge and Wisdom." The second inquiry is "Questions About Self," with the third being "Questions of and About Others." The fourth inquiry explores "How Might We Live," while the fifth talks about "Our Individual and Collective Journeys."
Breisch ends his book with "The Continuing Inquiry: Could We See It Another Way."
The soft-covered book costs $20 and is available online through Amazon. Local customers can purchase the book at one of two upcoming book signings. These are scheduled for:
• Thursday, Sept. 7, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., at 25N Coworking, 25 N. River Lane, Geneva;
• Thursday, Sept. 28, from 5 to 7 p.m., at K. Hollis Jewelers, 147 S. Randall Road, Batavia.

An MIT graduate and TEDx presenter, Roger Breisch is a highly sought thinker, counselor and inspirational speaker, especially among audiences of young people at risk. For over 12 years, he has worked with thousands of teens in an anti-drug, anti-alcohol program. Breisch volunteers weekly for a suicide hotline, and has logged over 3,000 hours asking questions of those most vulnerable to taking their own life.
For 10 years, Breisch served as the executive director of the Batavia Chamber of Commerce.
