Tree of Life UU invites all to Holiday Concert Dec. 18

On Sunday, Dec. 18, Tree of Life Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 5603 Bull Valley Road in McHenry, will present its annual Holiday Concert featuring the adult choir and the new children's Boomwhacker ensemble at the 10:45 a.m. service. The public is invited.

This is the first year the program will be led by Tree of Life's new music director, Forrest Ransburg. "We hope to make you smile, cheer, laugh (perhaps even guffaw), and feel inspired. Enjoy this warm concert filled to the brim with season's greetings!" he said.

The program will be a mix of traditional Christmas and holiday songs both sacred and secular, art music, and "A Consort of Choral Christmas Carols" by P.D.Q. Bach. Ron Relic will be the soloist for "I Wonder as I Wander" and Carrie McDonald will be featured in "Happy Xmas (The War is Over)."

Children from the church school have formed an ensemble and have been practicing for weeks. They play Boomwhackers, tuned plastic percussion tubes that can be played similar to hand bells.

There is plenty of parking and child care is available for infants and toddlers. The building and sanctuary are wheelchair accessible. Refreshments will be served in the Social Room during coffee hour after the concert.

There is no admission charge for the performance, but a freewill collection will be taken.
