DuPage Looks to Wow Springfield Associations

OAK BROOK, Illinois- In an effort to attract more business and promote its communities, the DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau (DCVB) today announced it will host a holiday reception in Springfield for the many associations and meeting planners based in the capitol city.

"We want to celebrate the outstanding work done by these Springfield associations and give them a look at what DuPage has to offer," said Beth Marchetti, the executive director of DCVB. "Countless meetings rotate throughout the Midwest every year with the hope of finding greener pastures. We intend to show event planners that DuPage offers proximity to top Illinois attractions at a great value."

DCVB's "It's A Wonderful DuPage" holiday reception will provide an opportunity for communities, hotel partners, and planners to mix, mingle, and network as they learn about DuPage County's many attractions. Members of the Illinois Society of Association Executives (ISAE) and the Illinois Office of Tourism are expected to attend this private event.

Springfield is home to many trade, business and professional associations and organizations, and as such often hosts meetings. However, some groups choose to hold one of their annual get-togethers elsewhere. "We want DuPage County to be that elsewhere," Marchetti said.

DuPage County boasts a $2.5 billion tourism industry, second only to Chicago. Social and professional groups can take advantage of DuPage County's variety of attractions, such as the Mortem Arboretum and historic Naper Settlement, as well as more than 16,000 guest rooms in 100+ hotels and resorts.

The private holiday reception will take place Tuesday, December 6 at Maldaner's Restaurant from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
