U-46 to host Kindergarten Rally Nights starting Dec. 5
Elgin Area School District U-46 is encouraging parents whose children will begin kindergarten next fall to attend a Full-Day Kindergarten Rally from Monday, Dec. 5 to Thursday, Dec. 8, at their neighborhood schools.
This event aims to help parents reserve a seat for their prospective kindergartner for the 2017-18 school year. The list below offers the specific date and time of each school's rally.
"As we continue to offer full-day kindergarten across our district, the rally helps us better prepare for next year's staffing needs," said CEO Tony Sanders. "We're looking forward to meeting the families of our future kindergartners and welcoming the Class of 2030."
To be eligible to enter kindergarten next fall, children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2017. Parents should bring their child's birth certificate and two documents showing proof of residency (local street address and town) within U-46 boundaries. No fees will be collected as these are considered pre-registration events.
At the rally events, school staff will help families fill out six forms: proof of local U-46 residency and custody form; student information form; race and ethnicity form; Home Language Survey; Language and Educational Background Form; and Health Services: Pre-Admission Health Form.

For new U-46 families only
Families new to U-46 can fill out the online kindergarten application from home prior to the Kindergarten Rally events on Monday, Dec. 5 through Thursday, Dec. 8. The district still asks new families to attend the Kindergarten Rally at their home school to present their student's birth certificate and proof of U-46 residency. Completing the online kindergarten application in advance will save families and staff time during the rally.
Returning families should not use this link as it will not pull any of their existing information from our student information system.
