Lake Zurich High School Theatre Presents LOVE/SICK -- An Unromantic, Romantic Comedy!

Lake Zurich High School Theatre presents its fall play this November with LOVE/SICK, a collection of nine quirky, insightful and hilarious short plays about the life cycle of a relationship and the hazards encountered in the pursuit of love. Written by John Cariani, LOVE/SICK is a darker cousin to his earlier play, "Almost, Maine."

The setting is 7:30 p.m. on a Friday night, in an alternate suburban reality. In nine separate scenes, the audience is introduced to 18 characters that all share common traits, with each riding their own perpetual and volatile emotional roller coaster. The same characters are never seen twice, as the relationships progress with each mini play.

While the actions of the nine plays are performed sequentially, the scenes are actually happening simultaneously, in various rooms of a generic, suburban house in America. Conceptually, the vignettes are all happening at the same time, with different couples at a crossroads in their respective relationships.

The sameness of the setting from play to play stands in sharp contrast to the diverse experiences and personalities encountered in the cookie-cutter house.

Every scene is about love, and particularly, about love's power to make you sick - not only heartsick, but sometimes physically ill. Hence, the paradox of the play's title, LOVE/SICK.

Don't miss this unromantic, romantic comedy! Performances are Thursday-Saturday, November 10, 11, 12 at 7:00 p.m., at the Lake Zurich Performing Arts Center, located at 300 Church Street in Lake Zurich. Ticket prices are $8 for student and seniors, and $10 for adults. Tickets can be purchased at the door on online at www.lz95.org/pac.
