Civil War reenactment comes to Carpentersville

Stanford's Battery Reenactors Group invites the community to the Civil War Reenactment in Carpentersville from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 6-7, at Carpenter Park, off Maple Avenue.

Come see Civil War blacksmithing, mounted cavalry, cannon presentations with spectator participation, Abraham Lincoln, Civil War battles, women in hoop skirts,

Civil War era music (performed by the 1st Brigade Band), and more.

There will be live action Civil War-era skits performed by Dundee-Crown High School Drama Club.

Activities for children include a stamp-collecting hunt and drilling with wooden rifles.

Don't miss the soldiers' parade at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
