WIM Fox Valley presents comedy with actress Judi Schindler

Women in Management Fox Valley presents Judy Schindler, president of Schindler Communications Inc., who will bring the light and comedic side of the ultimate girl talk as she performs "Husbands: An Owner's Manual" at the next meeting on Thursday, Nov. 13.

The luncheon, sponsored by Elgin attorney Janet Ellingson, will be held at the Elgin Country Club, 2575 Weld Road, Elgin. It will begin with networking at 11:30 a.m., followed by the luncheon and program at noon. Meetings adjourn promptly at 1:30 p.m. Cost for members is $22 and $25 for nonmembers. Area women business owners and managers are welcome to attend this month's presentation. Reservations must be made for attendance online at www.wimfoxvalley.org.

Attendees are encouraged to bring donated shoes to the luncheon in support of the YWCA Elgin's "Shoe Drive for Haiti."

Schindler, an actress and marketing consultant, has performed in numerous theatrical productions as well as commercials and independent films. In her 30-minute presentation, she will draw on 50 years of marriage to reveal the secrets behind selecting a husband and maintaining him in good working order. "Husbands: An Owner's Manual" is a multimedia presentation that offers witty, candid advice for women who want to stay married for the rest of their lives.

Still active in National Association of Women Business Owners, she is a co-founder and past president of the Chicago Chapter as well as a former national officer. Her work in this area earned her the 1989 Chicago "Woman Business Owner of the Year Award" and the 1986 national award as "Women in Business Advocate" presented by the United States Small Business Administration. In 2003, she was inducted into the NAWBO Women Business Owners Hall of Fame. Listed in "Who's Who in America," "Who's Who in American Women" and "Who's Who in the Midwest," she has been a frequent speaker, both locally and nationally, on marketing, media and women's enterprise.

"We all need a little humor to get us through the day," said Loni Mecum, president of WIM Fox Valley. "We look forward to hearing Judi's sage and witty advice on marriage."

Mecum has been a member of WIM Fox Valley since 1997. A retired professional, she is the former Elgin City Clerk, City of Elgin.

Linda Deering, CEO of Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, will present "transformational leadership" at the Dec. 11 meeting and Andrew Grams, music director of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, kicks off the new year on Jan. 8.

Women in Management Fox Valley was founded in 1984. Members are comprised of business professionals in six categories: academic; corporate; entrepreneur; government; licensed, degreed professional; and not-for-profit.
