While searching for wild art in Geneva, I rediscovered this rail bridge that crosses over the Fox River. This view creates a spiral effect looking through the massive concrete piers of the bridge. Built by Town & Country Bridge & Rail, of Albany, NY., it's a Deck Plate Girder bridge with a modified Pratt Through Truss pedestrian bridge added later using the same piers. It was originally built in the early 1900's for the Chicago & North Western Railroad, and is now owned by Union Pacific. Both UP freights and Metra passenger trains to and from Chicago use this bridge. This photo was originally published in the Perspective column in the print edition of the Daily Herald.
