Fremd takes top honors in MSL triangular
Fremd senior Christine Jensen had the top scores in three events to help the Vikings past a pair of Mid-Suburban League foes in girls gymnastics action Wednesday in Palatine.
Jensen won the vault (9.45), balance beam (9.40) and floor exercise (9.65) as Fremd totaled 146.70, ahead of Hersey (133.95) and Buffalo Grove (127.85).
Fremd junior Emily Neal had the winning effort on the uneven parallel bars (9.30) and also placed third on beam (9.05). Jensen won the all-around (37.75), and Neal was second (35.50).
Fremd sophomore Carly DeFilippo was second on vault (9.35) and floor exercise (9.40), and junior teammate Christine Radochonski was second on beam (9.20). Vikes junior Sydney Plichta placed third on bars (9.20) and sophomore Maggie Betti was third on floor exercise.
Hersey got a third-place finish from sophomore Alysa Zurlo on vault (9.15); she placed fifth in the all-around at 34.7. Huskies senior Annie Johnson was fifth on floor exercise (9.10) and sixth on vault and bars.
Buffalo Grove’s top efforts came from sophomore Diandra Duenser, who placed fourth on beam (8.55), fifth on bars (8.80), sixth on floor (9.0) and fourth in the all-around at 34.95.
