Palatine Park District/Lavelle Law Turkey Trot Scheduled for Thanksgiving Morning

Lavelle Law, Ltd., a firm known for its community service initiatives throughout the area, is joining with Palatine Park District this year to present the 33rd annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 28, 2013. The event will include a 2 Mile Run at 8:00am and a 5 Mile run at 9:00am. The Drumstick Dash fun run for children ages 10 years and under will be held at 10:00am. Turkey Trot is held at Harper College, 1200 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine, starting in Building A.

Turkey Trot registration is being accepted online and the registration form can also be downloaded from the Palatine Park District website, www.palatineparks.org. Forms are available in the lobbies of Community Center, Falcon Park and Birchwood. Pre-registration for Turkey Trot is being accepted through 7:00pm on Thursday, November 21. All pre-registered 2 mile and 5 mile participants will receive a long sleeve technical shirt. Pre-registrants for the Drumstick Dash will receive a youth sized t-shirt. Turkey Trot fees are $25 for pre-registration and $30 for race day registration, and the Drumstick Dash is $5 per child. A family discount is available for the 2 mile and 5 mile events, through the pre-registration deadline only.

Packet pickup will be available at Birchwood Recreation Center, 435 W. Illinois Avenue, Palatine, on Tuesday, November 26 from 8:30am to 8:00pm and Wednesday, November 27 from 8:30am to 7:00pm. Race Day registration will be available in Building A at Harper College on November 28, however shirts cannot be guaranteed for race day registrants. Registration for the 2 mile run will be held from 7:00am to 7:45am; registration for the 5 mile run will be held from 8:00am to 8:45am; and registration for the Drumstick Dash will be held from 9:00am to 9:45am.

First, second, and third place awards will be given to male and female runners in each of the age groups, and all Drumstick Dash participants will receive an award.

The annual Turkey Trot is an event that continues to give back to the community in several ways. All participants are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the Palatine Township Food Pantry on Thanksgiving morning, and race proceeds help provide Palatine Park District scholarships throughout the year. This event raises funds through the generous support of many park district partners. In addition to the new partnership with Presenting Sponsor Lavelle Law, Ltd., sponsorship at the gold level has been provided this year by Alexian Brothers Medical Group, American Chartered Bank, Daily Herald Media Group, Loving Care Animal Clinic, New Balance Chicago, Northwest Community Healthcare Medical Group, Palatine Vision Center, Premier Credit Union and Whole Foods Market-Kildeer.
