Historic Fullersburg Cemetery Open to the Public on Memorial Day

The Fuller Family and The Fullersburg Historic Foundation invite you to tour the Fullersburg Cemetery on Memorial Day, May 27, 2013 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. This historic private cemetery, seldom open to the public, is situated in what was originally known as Brush Hill and is located on the north end of Garfield Street, between Maumell Street and Fuller Road in Hinsdale. When Ben Fuller platted Fullersburg in 1851 he set aside land for a cemetery, which he donated to the community. The cemetery is the final resting spot for many of the founders of Fullersburg and Hinsdale as well as many of the area's Civil War soldiers. The oldest stone marks the grave of Ben Fuller's mother, Candace Fuller 1789-1847. Don Fuller will lead a tour beginning at 11:45. A local veteran's group will replace the cemetery's flag with a simple ceremony at 12:30 after the Hinsdale parade. Call 630-512-7336 with any questions. Visit www.fullersburg.org to learn more about Ben Fuller.
