Conant clinches in MSL West
Conant wrapped up the Mid-Suburban West boys water polo title by delivering an 11-6 victory at Schaumburg on Tuesday.
The Cougars finished with a 9-1 record against MSL West opponents and will face Hersey in next week’s league championship game.
Jake Nelson had 3 goals to lead Conant (19-3 overall), and the Cougars got 2 each from Kyle Bradberry, Connor Schmitz and Matt Engebretson.
James Birriel (3 goals) and LJ Peterson (2) led Schaumburg (8-15, 3-7).
Fremd 15, Barrington 4: Senior JP French scored 5 goals, and Luke Stark and Matt Emmerson had 3 apiece to help the Vikings (21-7, 8-2) seal a second-place finish in the MSL West.
Palatine 11, Hoffman Estates 10: The host Pirates outscored the Hawks 4-3 in the fourth quarter, which ended up being the difference as Palatine (15-8, 7-3) finished third in the Mid-Suburban West.
Christian Kalfas (4 goals) and Omar El Hoffi (3) led the offensive output for the Pirates, and goalie Peter Blackham stopped 15 shots.
Hoffman Estates (12-12, 3-7) got 4 goals from Adam Pasnicki and 2 apiece from Sang Han and Luke Iehl.
Hersey 7, Buffalo Grove 5: The East Division champion Huskies improved to 12-10 overall and 9-1 in the East with a victory at Olympic Pool. Hersey will play at Conant in the MSL championship game next week.
Prospect (11-12, 7-3) finished as East Division runner-up, followed by Buffalo Grove (9-13, 6-4).
