Register for classes during U-46 Kindergarten Orientation

Parents or guardians who plan to send their child to kindergarten in School District U-46 for the 2013–2014 school year should plan to attend Kindergarten Orientation in April. Children who turn 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2013 will be eligible.

Families can register their child for kindergarten through April 25 at the school their child will attend. The full list of dates and times for each school is posted on the district’s website under “2013-2014 Registration.” Kindergarten Orientation dates and times vary depending on the school site. Schools that offer ELL classes will also have orientation in Spanish, but they may be held at a different time.

For parents or guardians who have questions about where their child will attend school, they can contact U-46’s School and Community Relations office, (847) 888-5000, ext. 5003, or they can check on u-46.org.

All parents or guardians must bring the child’s birth certificate and three proofs of residency to Kindergarten Orientation. Registration forms, immunization requirements and other materials will be distributed at orientation.

The Illinois School Code requires kindergarten students to submit a report of physical examination and the dates that certain immunizations were received in order to attend school. All immunizations must be recorded on the state approved examination form. Area physicians and all District U-46 schools have the state-approved physical exam forms. The forms are also available on the district’s website.

Physical exam documents must be brought to the school on or before the first day of class. School District U-46 has a First Day Exclusion policy for physical examinations and immunizations.
