Schaumburg And Elgin Ymca Announce Management Agreement

Schaumburg and Elgin, IL --- The Prairie Valley Family YMCA of the Greater Elgin area Board of Directors and the Alfred Campanelli YMCA Board of Directors proudly announce a new management agreement in which the Campanelli CEO, Dr. Gary Bublitz, will provide CEO leadership of both the Campanelli Y and the Prairie Valley Family Y effective February 16, 2013.

A joint committee of board members worked for approximately two months on the planning and due diligence of the agreement culminating in a unanimous board vote on both boards in favour of the management agreement.

As part of the management agreement, members of the Alfred Campanelli Board of Directors will join with members of the Prairie Valley Family Board of Directors to provide oversight of the management agreement. This agreement will join four branch locations of Prairie Valley Family Y (Camp Edwards, Gilberts, St. Charles, and Taylor) with the Campanelli Y and Zurich Fitness Center, representing a total budget responsibility of nearly $6 million and over 8,000 members.

Bublitz said, “The management agreement brings together two strong YMCAs with a long history of working together to create an association stronger than each entity independently. The goal of this agreement is to work toward merging both organizations at some point in the future”. In 1968, the Elgin YMCA created the Twinbrook branch in Schaumburg, and in 1983 Twinbrook became an independent Y. Now, the two organizations will once again reunite to provide YMCA services across the northwest suburban and Fox Valley regions.

Representatives of the YMCA of the USA and various community leaders eagerly supported this agreement.
