Lakes edges Antioch

Lakes' boys golf team had 3 players break 40 at Antioch Country Club, and that helped account for the Eagles' 158-162 win over Antioch on Tuesday.

Lakes' Petey Benes and Antioch's Eric Pascual each shot a 2-over 37 to tie for medalist honors. Mike Barry and Jeff Cherry each shot 38 for Lakes, while Jackson Schultz and Connor Fitzgerald carded matching 45s.

Antioch also received a 38 from Grant Smith.

Merit Club invite: At The Merit Club on Monday, Warren's Jack Hansen fired a 77 to earn a one-shot victory over Russell Hutson of Vernon Hills.

Five golfers — Vernon Hills' Patrick Quinn, Eric Swanson and Chris Edwards, Libertyville's Matt Williams and Lake Zurich's Adam Schulte — shot 80.

Vernon Hills carded a winning 318, while Libertyville (325) edged Warren (327) for second place in the six-team field.
