During his book tour in May, Ken Green returned to the high school he was thrown out of 58 years ago but graduated from that school in January 1956. He talked about his book and was interviewed by students with an article about him published in the Roosevelt Rough Reader, a student newspaper.

He told students at Roosevelt High School how they could also strive for success despite their circumstances. He spoke to the student body, faculty and alumni for the purpose of inspiring the kids to achieve great things.

He told them, “I am no different than you and if i could do it, so can you”. Green served in Korea in the United States Army. He drove a taxicab during the day, while attending Roosevelt University part time. He became a high school teacher and then went to law school at night while teaching days. He became an attorney and joined the Los Angeles Public Defender's Office and worked his way up to Chief where he supervised 400 attorneys. As an amateur boxer, he was inducted into the California Boxing Hall Of Fame. He is also a Reserve Police Sergeant.”

When he spoke to the students, you could hear a pin drop. His last words to them were “It would make me very happy if you decide to work hard, no drugs, and have a good life.”

While he was in the Chicago area in May, he also gave book talks and signed copies of his book at the Vernon Area Public Library District in Lincolnshire, Congregation B'nai Shalom in Buffalo Grove, and at the Evanston Public Library. His talks at the Vernon Area Public Library District and Congregation B'nai Shalom were aired on cable television.
