Girls soccer/Fox Valley roundup

Aimee Wronski scored her fourth goal of the young season Friday off an assist from Priscilla Jara and that was all the Huntley girls soccer team would need to scored 1 -0 win over Glenbard North in the ongoing Huntley Tournament.

The Red Raiders (2-0) will play Larkin at 10 a.m. today. Larkin fell to Marengo 1-0 Friday. The final round of the tournament will be played at 1 p.m., with the opponents to be determined after the 10 a.m. games.

Wronski’s goal Friday came with 19:33 remaining in the first half of the game, which was shortened to 30-minute halves due to the weather.

The Red Raiders got 19 shots on goal, while their goalie, Kaitlyn Owens, had to make only one save.

“The sloppy conditions made offense very difficult today,” said Huntley coach Kris Grabner.

Cary-Grove 3, Johnsburg 0: Korey Kronforst scored twice and Mary Schneider had a single knock as the Trojans (2-1) shut down Johnsburg in Fox Valley Conference crossover play. Allie Simon had 2 assists for Cary-Grove and JaeJay Usab 1. Krystal Felderman was called on to make just 1 save to preserve the shutout.

Libertyville 4, Burlington Central 0: The Rockets (0-3) continued to have trouble finding the back of the net in losing this Huntley Tournament game. Caitlin Solberg made 13 saves in goal for the Rockets, who play Marian Central at 10 a.m. in the third round.

Elk Grove 1, Dundee-Crown 0: Elk Grove’s Michelle Calmeyn scored on a penalty kick with 10 minutes left in the first half to help the host Grenadiers edge Dundee-Crown on Friday in a nonconference girls soccer matchup. Dundee-Crown goalkeeper Ali Sanders made 5 saves, and Elk Grove keeper Melissa Solorio had 3.
