Wheaton church to host outdoor worship Aug. 20 in Memorial Park

Enjoy the last days of summer with a worship service in Memorial Park in Wheaton.

Gary United Methodist Church will hold "Worship in the Park" at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, in Memorial Park, 225 Karlskoga Ave.

The service will include music, prayer, scripture reading, children's time and a sermon. Bring a lawn chair or blanket or use one of the provided theater seats.

All are welcome to worship and enjoy a picnic lunch after the service. Please bring a salad or dessert to share.

The church at 224 N. Main St. has Sunday worship at 9 a.m. in the sanctuary, complete with Kids' Church, plus livestreaming and recorded worship at garychurch.org.

At 10 a.m., you can enjoy a coffee hour called "Special Blend." A second worship experience at 11 a.m. will begin on Sunday, Aug. 27.

Sunday school for all ages at 10 a.m. starts again Sept. 10. With deep roots in the community since 1853, Gary United Methodist Church has vibrant music, kids, youth and adult ministries, plus opportunities for local, national and global missions.
