Wheaton Municipal Band to host auditions for summer season

Nothing says summer like outdoor Wheaton Municipal Band concerts.

As the weather warms, the concert season approaches.

The Wheaton Municipal Band performs at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, June 8 to Aug. 3, at Memorial Park in downtown Wheaton.

The season culminates with an indoor concert at Wheaton College's Edman Chapel at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5. (This concert is not a function of Wheaton College)

Music director Dr. Bruce Moss crams in a dynamic program every week.

The 2023 season features some wonderful extras.

On Friday, June 30, the band will travel to the University of Illinois at Champaign for a concert at the Great Hall of Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. The Midwest Region Convention of the American School of Band Directors Association invited the Wheaton Municipal Band to perform for their meeting and attendees of the Illinois Summer Youth Music Camps.

In addition, the band has been invited for an unprecedented third performance at the International Band and Orchestra Midwest Clinic at McCormick Place in Chicago.

This prestigious invitation places the Wheaton Municipal Band front and center in the International Band arena. It is a great honor for both Dr. Bruce Moss and the band.

Auditions for the band take place Sunday, May 21, between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., and Sunday, May 28, between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.
