Wheaton's Gary UMC offers creative class during Lent

Gary United Methodist Church in Wheaton is offering the class, "Holy Week: A Creative Exploration" on Sundays, Feb. 26 through March 19, and April 2.

Can a coloring page convey Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, or are watercolors able to capture his anger when clearing the temple? What were the flavors of the last supper? How has Christ's trial and crucifixion been portrayed in the theater, and what can a hymn teach us about his resurrection? Get answers to these questions and more as we deepen our scriptural understanding of holy week through creative media like children's art, painting, cuisine, theater and music.

It will start at at 10 a.m. in the church chapel, 224 N. Main St.

The church offers 9 and 11 a.m. Sunday worship. The 9 a.m. service is complete with Kids' Church and nursery care, plus livestreaming and recorded worship at garychurch.org. The 11 a.m. Service of Word & Sacrament is an intimate and informal service. At 10 a.m., you can enjoy a coffee hour called "Special Blend" and Sunday school for all ages.

With deep roots in the community since 1853, Gary Church has vibrant music, kids, youth and adult ministries, plus opportunities for local, national and global missions. For more information, go to garychurch.org or contact the church office at office@garychurch.org.
