Local Irish dancer to compete in the All Ireland Dance Championships in County Kerry, Ireland

Local dancer Kaitlin Coffey of Crystal Lake from the McNulty School of Irish dance is heading to Ireland to compete in the elite All Ireland Dance Championships.

The event, which runs from Feb. 12-18, will be host to thousands of dancers from throughout the world.

Kaitlin is a junior at Crystal Lake Central and trains 3-5 days per week, both at the McNulty Studio in Crystal Lake and Arlington Heights. She also trains at home daily when not in class.

In addition to Irish Dance, Kaitlin is a member of the Crystal Lake Central varsity tennis team, an active member of the National Honor Society, and is co-leader of the Business Leadership Club.

Founded in 1971 in Naperville by Barbara McNulty T.C.R.G., and having opened in Crystal Lake over 20 years ago, the McNulty School has grown to become one of the most active schools in the Midwest, with satellite classes across Chicago area as well as classes in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and Dubuque, Iowa.

The McNulty School of Irish Dance seeks to preserve the rich traditions of Irish music and dance and to pass them down to future generations.
