Restoration work begins at Wheaton's Gary United Methodist Church

For the next couple of months, you'll see scaffolding on the Main Street side of Gary United Methodist Church in Wheaton.

Workers are stabilizing and restoring the east elevation of the building. The project will be completed in two phases.

The first phase will include resetting the limestone coping, restoration of the mullions as well as repointing the entire façade. Workers will also be restoring the stone on the inside of the building beneath the sanctuary balcony.

The second phase includes restoring the stained glass.

Marion Restoration is working on the project and expects it to be complete sometime in mid-September.

Gary United Methodist Church, 224 N. Main St. in Wheaton, offers a 9 a.m. Sunday worship in the sanctuary, complete with Kids' Church, plus livestreaming and recorded worship at garychurch.org.

After the worship service, you can enjoy a coffee hour called "Special Blend." Sunday school for all ages starts again Sept. 11.

On Sunday, Aug. 21 at 10 a.m., the church invites you to "Worship in the Park," in Memorial Park, 225 Karlskoga Ave. in Wheaton.
