Over 1,000 local families to receive halal meat through hunger prevention program

For decades, ICNA Relief has been distributing Qurbani meat on the community's behalf to local families. This year, ICNA Relief has seen an influx of families from Afghanistan and other regions in desperate need of the community's help.

With the increased cost of living, including sky-high meat prices, neighbors depend on the community's generosity especially to help them celebrate this special time of year.

Last year, ICNA Relief in Chicago distributed halal Qurbani meat to over 1,000 families. Help us match this number this year. It is $375 for cow or goat.

ICNA Relief takes responsibility on the donor's behalf for securing and distributing donations to local families through their established and verified food pantries across the nation, including two local pantries in Glendale Heights and the West Ridge neighborhood in Chicago.

What is the Qurbani/Udhiyah?

Udhiyah or animal sacrifice is an act of worship that reminds Muslims of the great act of sacrifice that Prophets Ibrahim and Ismaeel were willing to make for the sake of God.

Offering Udhiyah (sacrifice) during Eid ul Adha is regarded as mandatory, to distribute the meat to local families in need, as well as keeping a share for one's own family.
