Wheaton's Gary UMC honors graduates with afghans

Gary United Methodist Church in Wheaton wrapped this year's high school graduates with homemade afghans.

The Gary Knitters, volunteers at the church, started working on the afghans months ago to have them ready in time for the high school graduate summer sendoff.

The graduates also received a copy of Dr. Suess's "Oh, the Places You'll Go," signed with well wishes by members of the congregation.

Gary United Methodist Church, 224 N. Main St., offers 9 a.m. summer Sunday worship services in the sanctuary.

The 9 a.m. service is complete with Kids' Church and nursery care, plus livestreaming and recorded worship at garychurch.org. At 10 a.m., you can enjoy a coffee hour called "Special Blend."

With deep roots in the community since 1853, the church has vibrant music, kids, youth and adult ministries, plus opportunities for local, national and global missions. For more information, go to garychurch.org or contact the church office at office@garychurch.org.
